Heat Wave Summer Party Recap
By Aubrey Wingo
Every summer, we are constantly fighting the heat wave of sunny, flat Florida. So what can you do to beat the heat and fight the height? You throw a party! On July 28th, Aiguille introduced the Summer Heat Wave Party to the facility, offering all brand new lead routes, top rope and boulder routes on the wave and the diamond, a luge racing-style slip and slide, contests, smoothies from the Lyman Climbing Club, a massage therapist, BBQ and more! Most importantly, we featured our first Used Gear Sale, where items in “extended stay” lost and found are put out for sale and all profits made are directly donated to the Southeastern Climbers Coalition.

Boulderpalooza 2012

By Aubrey Wingo
On January 7th of 2012, climbers from around the state of Florida swarmed Gainesville Rock Gym for their annual Boulderpalooza bouldering competition. Among these climbers, the best of the Team Aiguille boulderers as well as many other Aiguille members dominated the population to tackle their steep roof climbing, long traverses, and top out bouldering; something that Aiguille folks do not get to experience as often. After talking with a few of these Aiguille climbers, I got the feeling that this was the most impressive Boulderpalooza yet!

After Dark: Holiday Party Recap
By Lauren Day
The lights down low, the music up loud, this seems to be commonplace for Aiguille After Dark. However, this After Dark was a little different. The gym was aglow with a multitude of Christmas lights and trees and shimmering ornaments. The smell of baked goods from the bake off wafted through the air filling everyone's minds with thoughts of the delicious holiday foods they were about to consume, and, thanks to our routsetters, trees and stars adorned the bouldering walls.

ABS Competition Re-Cap!!

By RyAnn Lugo
As the Aiguille gym filled with competitors, parents, and friends on the morning of the American Bouldering Series Competition, there was an undeniable ambiance of excitement passing through, along with the snazzy new ABS T-Shirts. Aside from the brand new, brightly colored holds, it's obvious that Mark and his choice team of route setters put a lot of thought into crafting exciting new boulder problems for this year's comp.
Aiguille’s Third Annual Dead Hang: A Halloween Affair Party & Competition
Aiguille Rock Climbing Center's ABS 13 Competition - Oct. 1, 2011
By Aubrey WingoNothing could bring more excitement to Aiguille Rock Climbing Center in Longwood, FL than the ABS 13 Competition on October 1st, 2011. Greeted with the first cool weather of the season, with doors wide open, Aiguille welcomed its competitors first thing in the morning to pick up their sponsor goodies and comp shirts, designed by Guillermo Casanova (http://guillermo-casanova.com/), and to start previewing their future sends of the day. Scorecards in hand, climbers from the youngest in the Youth-D division of USA Climbing to our Masters competitors (45+), scurried around frantically planning out their strategies and reading the beta of 50 brand new boulder problems set by national route setter, Mark Mercer as well as David Carmona, Aubrey Wingo, Eugene Hoberg, Jackson Clemmer and Jesse Falcon.
