Beach Climbing in Florida? Pt. II (Jupiter Beach)

If you are making a trip to Miami or Ft. Lauderdale for a day at the beach, stop at Blowing Rocks Preserve on the east coast of Florida at a beach called Jupiter Beach. Now this isn't a gateway to take you to the planet Jupiter where you would be crushed by its immense gravity before you ultimately suffocate due to lack of gravity and gas properties of the planet.

Tis the season! No, not for turkeys and family and presents, but for something way better - climbing. It is absolutely ludicrous that this time of year is called Fall when this time of year is all about sending. Now, I know some of you outdoor enthusiasts may be excited about the prospect of crimping on crisp razor cut holds or sticking to a sloper like velcro, but be aware that climbing outside has a whole other set of expectations.

Located in Pottersville, New York, Hogwarts Bouldering is the most magical place you will ever climb at, guaranteed. It has been highly suggested to try the Sorting Hat (V3) first, just to see where you will be assigned. Then, you might want to hop on the Nimbus 2000 (V6) and give it a whirl! Or maybe even challenge yourself on The Sorceror’s Stone (V9).

Whatever you decide, there is a little bit of everything for every muggle…I mean, climber!

from this page you can find a video featuring Tommy Caldwell (very nicely done) climbing the boulder problem, as well as the photo synth thing. In my opinion, everyone should know what this climb is. There is a ton of history behind it, as well as some mystery regarding the lightning bolt. Supposedly, it is the most famous boulder problem in the world... I tried it on my trip and got shut down with the feet at the beginning.... next time.

The Red River Gorge, located in east-central Kentucky, is arguably the best sport climbing area in the nation. It is certainly the most visited. The vast number of bolted routes on overhanging, pocketed sandstone draws climbers from all over the world. The Red hosts some 1,000 sport routes, and nearly 900 trad routes.

Fontainebleau is a national park and bouldering area 35 miles south of Paris, France. It is regarded as one of the best and most developed bouldering areas in the world. The area is made up of many individual locations throughout the Fontainebleau forest.
